Buying local organic food from a local producer such as Handley Organics helps you to reconnect with the land again, with the source of your food. You can eat with the seasons again; enjoy more unusual and traditional varieties and local specialities.

You can support your local farmers directly at a time when they need a loyal secure market. For example you can find out how you can get fresh, organic food in your area, and support your local farmers with the Soil Associations
'eat organic - buy local' campaign.

Why buy local organic food?

  • It's good for the environment - less road and air transport, less packaging, less pollution, less waste

  • It's good for your local economy - keeps money in your local area, creating jobs and businesses locally and giving farmers a bigger cut of the price-tag you pay

  • It's good for your community - making links between people in urban areas and the countryside

  • It's good for your health – fresher food, with improved nutrient levels, containing fewer contaminants.

  •
Shop locally for fresher, healthier, less-travelled food and support your local producers and shop-keepers.

This slightly amended comment from The Soil Association is why we opened Handley Organics in Ledbury.

Stocking a wide range of the very best in fresh, seasonal and local products, and sourcing the other fruit and vegatables to which we have all become accustomed to in this day and age, we aim to provide everything the modern earth-concious customer needs.

Not only do we stock fresh products but we have a range of dry and wholefoods which have brought gasps of admiration from customers, some of whom are used to seeing this sort of wide ranging stock from much larger establishments. We keep a range of teas and coffees from the best and most respected suppliers, we also stock a range of baking products from the likes of Marriages and Doves Farm. Tinned, jared and prepacked foods from Suma, Essential and Infinity together with a range of herbs and spices (fresh herbs in season) sold loose.

We keep bread and pastries from Lorentzen Bakeries and Iryna Da Silva including gluten free products . We also keep other products for those who have other food intolerences including the yummy Swedish Glace dairy-free ice creams.

In the chiller units can be found pre-packed meats from Cridlan & Walker - which are raised on a farm at Leigh Sinton - together with milk, local cheeses, Netherend butter, fresh yeast and many, many other choice products.

All these served by Caroline or our friendly and knowledgeable staff, Natalia, Ann and 'the other' Ann, who will be pleased to serve or offer advice as necessary.

Of course the great news is that our Loyalty Cards are now available from the shop which offer real savings in these currently challenging times. Please ask for details

We are open from Monday to Saturday and from 9.00am to 5.00pm though on some days early risers will find Caroline there from some un-earthly hour in the morning as she unloads and redies the products for sale.

Please feel free to come in and browse or email or phone with enquiries.
